WELCOME TO VALLEY NEWS

Summer is almost upon us, but the Spring weather has meant some very comfortable playing conditions. As the days heat up, the course is starting to reflect the harsh climate we live in.

A big thank you to the volunteers, Ross, Blake, and Ed who put in the hours to maintain and improve our fabulous gem of a course.

Lots to cover this month. Congratulations to the Men’s champions, and happy golfing.

Merry Christmas everyone! And a Happy New Year!

MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS 2019

Congratulations to our Men’s Champions for 2019. Across all three grades and rounds, there were some very tightly contested matches.

We hope to see you all at the Club Presentation night on Friday, 13 December 2019.

MATCH & GREENS

COURSE MAINTENANCE
With the extreme heat it is becoming increasingly difficult for Ross and Blake to manage watering of all areas without fixed sprinklers.

Anyone who can spare an hour or so on any day of the week (morning or evening) to hand water, please contact Ross Forsythe and he will gladly show you what needs to be done.

We seem to be having issues with local residents taking a liking to our flagsticks, with several disappearing in recent weeks.

Occasionally they are merely thrown into the creek (along with bunker rakes), so as you are wandering along the banks in search of that wayward tee shot, please also keep a lookout for a flagstick or rake.

CLUB PRESENTATION NIGHT, FRIDAY 13 DECEMBER, 7PM

All members and their family are invited and encouraged to attend the Club Presentation Night.  Men’s, Women’s and Mixed competition trophies will be presented. There will be a short break during the presentations so the the meat/ham raffles can be drawn.

LADIES’ MID-WEEK GOLF COMPETITION
The last event for the year was played on Thursday 28 November. From now on, all ladies are encouraged to play in the Open Medley events each Thursday. This allows for flexibility with tee times.  Ladies competitions will return the second week of February 2020.

MATCH & GREENS COMMITTEE
A call for volunteers to assist primarily with the day to day operations and running of competitions (ie a “Match Committee”).  The Rules of Golf define the Committee as the person or group in charge of a competition or the course.

The Committee is essential to the proper playing of the game and have the responsibility of running the course on a day-to-day basis or for a specific competition and they should always act in ways that support the Rules of Golf and in consultation with our Greens Superintendent (Ross Forsythe).  Should you be interested in joining the Match Committee, please contact Club Captain, Kerryn Coldrey (M: 0425 285 901).
