Caterers

The new caterer, Peter Maltezos and his wife Dimi, ran their first lunch and dinner service on Wednesday 22 February. There was a good crowd of people in attendance and the food received very positive feedback. Come down and try out the quite extensive menu. Make sure you book.

Course Maintenance

On Wednesday 22 February, the Club president, Club manager, Course manager and M&G’s representative went to Avondale GC to arrange with their superintendent the collection of turf from greens they are renovating and then using the turf to replace and repair some of our greens.

Weather permitting, the cutting of their turf and replacement at the Valley has been planned for Thursday 16 March. This will require a team of 12 people at Avondale GC on the morning of the Thursday 16th to help with turf cutting, stacking on pallets and removal of the turf we require. Generous members with trucks will transport the turf to the Valley in the pm to be relaid onto our prepared greens. Helpers will car pool at the club for trip to Avondale GC at 9am.

Another team of 12 volunteers will be required to lay the turf at the Valley in the pm after 2pm.

If you can assist either am at Avondale or pm at the Valley please let the President, Dan Williams know as soon as possible.

We hope this will be the beginning of a long-term greens and course renewal program.

Don’t forget about our adopt a bunker initiative. Tony Karipis has taken on the 14th bunker.

Major Pennant

Congratulations to our Major Pennants team squaring with Cammeray at Cammeray last weekend. This Sunday 26 February they play Marrickville at the Valley teeing off at 9.00am. Come down and support the team. Good luck to Laurie McMartin (Manager) and the team.

Knockout Championships

The third round of the Men’s Knockout will be played on Saturday 25 February. Good luck to the last 8 players.
Qualifying for the Ladies knockout takes place on 2 March. Good luck to those wishing to qualify.
