VALLEY NEWS 2019 No.4

Farewell – This month we said farewell to Greg Hoare after over 23 years with the Club working in the bar, office and on the course. Greg and his wife Sandra will be moving up the coast to be closer to his mother and their grandkids. We wish Greg all the best in his retirement and many years of great bowls and golf and other leisure activities.

Congratulations – Well done to Harrison Crowe for captaining the NSW Junior Boys team at the Australian Interstate Series with the Boys team taking out the trophy. Well done to Harrison and the whole team.

Pathway between 3rd and 4th tees – I am sure all golfers have noticed another stage of the pathway between the 3rd and the 4th tees has been completed. Thanks to Peter, Bruce and Tony for management of the project and the 10 volunteers who assisted in this stage of the project. The final phase of this project is being planned for early May. If you can help, please contact Bruce or Peter as this will be a big task.

Easter Cup – Congratulations to our winners of the Easter Cup (best 3 rounds of 5) – Ladies – Marilyn Joma and Men – Dan Williams. Well done to all who contested the event.

Trivia – Don’t miss our next trivia night on Friday 3 May starting at 7.45pm. Dan and Karen Williams will be running the trivia which has a theme of ‘That’s Entertainment’. Study up on film, TV and music as well as general knowledge. Remember to book a table and come along for a fun night. Melo’s bistro will be open from 5.30pm to order meals.

Masters Pennant – Sunday 28 April sees the first round being played at the Valley against Cabramatta. Tee-off is at 10.00 so come along to cheer on the team. 5 May is the 2nd round v Dunheved also at the Valley and the 3rd round is also at the Valley on 19 May v Springwood.

Upcoming Events – Anzac Day, 25 April, open medley event so come down to join in. 4 May is the Men’s monthly medal; 9 May is the Women’s President v Captains teams’ event; 16 May is the 1st round of the Ladies Foursomes Championship with the final round on 23 May.

Weekly happenings – Happy Hour is Fridays 5pm – 6pm, Darts and Euchre are run every Wednesday from 7.30pm, Meat Raffles – are Wednesday & Friday nights and Saturday afternoon and Grocery Grab is run at 7.00pm on Wednesday nights.

The Course – With Ross away for the next few weeks Bruce Alexander, Ed Yates and Peter Weewan will be doing more of the course work with assistance from the other volunteers. Come along and help if free on any day. Thanks to Mo Doudar for his work on and in the bunkers. They’re a pleasure to be in Mo!!!
