VALLEY NEWS 2019 No.2

Thank you – a big thanks to Eric Osman and Laurie McMartin for installing the new handrail on the entry steps. It is getting a lot of use. Thanks also to the Ladies Committee who raised the money to purchase the handrail.

Mixed Pennant – after a very narrow loss to Ryde-Parramatta last Sunday our Mixed Pennant team just missed out going through to play-offs. Thanks to all the players who competed and tried their hardest in all the matches.

Major Pennant – The third round is on Saturday 23 February at the Valley against Richmond. The team is sitting on a win and a loss. Tee-off is 10.00am. Good luck to the team. The 4th round is on Sunday 3 March versus Richmond at Richmond. Saturday 9 March our team plays Beverley Park at the Valley and on 17 March we play Beverley Park at Beverley Park. Good luck team.

Trivia – Friday 1 March is the second trivia night for 2019 with Keith Johnson and Kathy Ferguson as our quiz masters. Get your team together and book a table, dine at Melo’s Bistro and have a fun night.

Upcoming events – Saturday 23 February is the second round of the Men’s Handicap Matchplay, the semi-finals will be on 2 March and the final will be played on 9 March.

Thursday 28 February is the 1st round of the Women’s Golf NSW Medal Stroke event and also qualifying for the Knockout.
Friday 1 March sees the start of the Ladies Interclub Bronze event.

Our team will be playing – Eastlake at Randwick, 2nd Rd is Monday 11 March v Randwick at Woollahra,

18 March we play Botany at Botany then on 29 March we play The Coast at the Valley.

Thursday 7 March is the 1st Rd of the Women’s Knockout with the 2nd Rd 14 March and final on 21 March.

16 March is the Men’s Monthly Medal.

Weekly happenings
– Happy Hour is Fridays 5pm – 6pm, Darts and Euchre are run every Wednesday from 7.30pm,
– Meat Raffles – are Wednesday & Friday nights and Saturday afternoon.
– Grocery Grab is run at 7.00pm on Wednesday nights.

The Course – We need more volunteers to assist with the works on the pathway between 3rd and 4th tees. If you can help preparing the form work or laying the concrete, then please contact Bruce Alexander or Peter Weewan. The greens mower is currently not working properly so greens need to be mowed by hand. Let Ross know if you can help.
