VALLEY NEWS 2018 No 9

Congratulations – To Ray Lynch for his Hole-in-one on 11 August on the 11th hole.  Also, to the Saturday 8 September “Super Sixes” comp winners with a score of 84 (2 ahead of the next group), John Sentas, Mark DeMontfort, John Dallis and Dion Karadimitropoulos.

Legacy Day – Saturday 13 October is our annual Charity Day to raise money for St George Legacy.  Form a team and come down and play.  Great prizes will be available. Remember carts are limited so you will need to book early.  If you are able to donate a prize contact Bruce Alexander, Dan Williams or Peter Weewan.

Ladies Fashion Parade – hosted by Robin Greentree of Rainbow Fashions will take place on Wednesday 10 October.  Entry is $10 and includes Morning Tea.   Come along and take the opportunity to update your wardrobe.

Lease Negotiations with Bayside Council – As many of you are already aware members of the Board have commenced discussions with Bayside Council over a new lease as our current lease expires in late 2019.  We will keep you informed of progress. 

Representative Team Raffle – Thanks to all those who supported our representative teams by buying tickets and congratulations to those who won prizes.  Prize winners are displayed in the clubhouse.  Some of our winners have donated their prizes to the upcoming Legacy Day prizes.

Trivia – Friday 5 October.  Dan and Karen Williams are our quiz masters this month.  Trivia will start at 7.45pm before the meat raffle.  Gather your team, book a table, dine at Melo’s Bistro and have a fun night. Entry fee is $10 per player.

Upcoming events – Friday 30 September is our promotional ‘used meat raffle’ tickets draw for your chance to win $100 (or jackpot pool) if you are there or 2 x $25 vouchers for the bistro if you are not.  If you have put your used meat raffle tickets into the barrel, then come along for a chance to win. 

Super Sunday is the last Sunday of the month – come and play for a chance to win $100 (subject to field size).

Thursday 18 October is the 1st Rd of the Women’s Club Championships.

The 2nd Rd is Sunday 21 October and the final Rd is Thursday 25 October. 

Saturday 20 October is the 1st Rd of the Men’s Club Championships with the 2nd Rd on 27 October. 

Saturday 3 November is the 1st Rd of the Men’s Matchplay.

New Euchre players needed – Wednesday Nights we have Euchre and Darts.  The Euchre game needs more players.  If you enjoy playing cards come along and have a meal at Melo’s bistro before playing euchre.  Euchre starts at 7.30pm but you need to be there by 7.15pm.  More dartees are also welcome.

The Course – Our spring greens renovation will commence on Monday, 24 September until Friday 5 October. This work includes scarifying, coring, fertilising and top dressing.  If you can spare some time then come along to help.  It is not heavy work but a bit of exercise.
