WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE VALLEY No 10

Greens Improvement Program and Course Maintenance

The initial application of chemicals to most of the greens to combat the intrusion of couch, kikuyu and summer grass took place on Monday 24 April. Thanks to those who came to do this work, Tony Crowe, Peter Weewan, Ian Westley, John Hunter and Dan Williams.

Our other volunteers continue their great work around the course with mowers, whipper snippers, blowers, gardening, weeding, rubbish removal and bunkers. These volunteers are Graham Prideaux, Tony Fardell, Phil Dickson, John (a local resident), Ray Hartley, Dennis Ellis, Arthur Midgley, Ken and Wendy Hicks and our Pro, Ross Forsythe. Thanks to Kerryn Coldrey who weeded a bunker only hours after returning from and overseas holiday with Ian and the kids.

Thanks to Bruce Alexander, Adrian Adam for their work weeding greens and to all the members who pull out weeds during rounds and those who work on their adopted bunker.

Special mention must go to Erko Osman and Garry Malpass for the amount of time they put into work around the course and fixing and maintaining equipment.

The second application of chemicals will take place, weather permitting, on Wednesday 3 May. It would be great to see other members, who can spare a few hours on Monday, come along and help. If you can assist for a few hours come after 8.00am and see Peter Weewan.
Sean Ford has advised he is leaving the club on 9 May and moving up north. We take this opportunity to thank Sean for his work over the years and wish him all the best.
